Jennie Segure

Jennie Segure, daughter of (the late) Augustus Roundtree and Arrie Outz was born on November 25th, 1926, in Edgefield, South Carolina.

 

Jennie met then married the late Frank Segure. Jennie was a loving wife and mother to (the late) Roger Hill as well as a loving grandmother and great-grandmother.

 

Jennie was a devoted Nursing Assistant who first worked at University Hospital until she retired after an estimated 15 years of service. Shortly after retiring she served as a volunteer for the hospital system. She was a well-respected employee within the field and amongst her leaders. In her spare time, she also facilitated many gatherings with the senior citizens of Newark, New Jersey, which often entailed accompanying Mayor Marion Barry.

 

Jennie had a warm, observant, gentle demeanor with a caring personality and she enjoyed cooking, dressing to the nines, attending church regularly and family get-togethers.

 

On January 10, 2024, while in Uniondale, New York, Jennie Segure transitioned from this life to eternal life and joined the ancestral ranks of her parents, her husband Frank Segure, her son Roger Hill, one grandchild, Deshaya Collins; her brothers and sister: James Roundtree, William Roundtree, and Thelma Franklin. She now leaves to cherish fond memories her grandchildren: Rhonda Wiggins (Keith), of Maryland, and Monica Hill of Georgia; three great-grandchildren: Saleem Wiggins, Zakiya Wiggins and Serenity Hill; her caregivers, niece and nephew-in-law Lisa and John Walker, of Freeport, New York and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones.
