Dennis Bristol Orlando Jeffers, 69, peacefully passed away on December 6, 2023, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Somerset, New Jersey. Born on April 6, 1954, to Maggie Jeffers and Manassah Bristol Jeffers, in Layou, St. Vincent, Dennis dedicated his life to education, embarking on his teaching career at the young age of 17 at the Layou Government School. Having migrated to the USA, in 1975, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving honorably at Camp Casey in South Korea and Fort Hood, Texas.

Following his military service, Dennis pursued his lifelong dream of becoming an educator. Armed with a Master of Science in Supervision and Administration, he took on the role of Principal at P.S. 289 George V. Brower, where he proudly served for an impressive 18 years. Dennis's commitment to his students was unwavering, and as the longest-serving principal in the history of PS 289, he worked tirelessly to ensure that every child was well-prepared for their transition to middle school. Furthermore, Dennis will always hold a special place in the hearts of his extended church family for his unwavering service as an elder and Sabbath school teacher. His steadfast faith and guidance touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on the congregation and community he so dearly served. Mr. Jeffers also served as the First Elder of The Emmaus SDA Church, where we are currently gathered today.

With deep gratitude for his service and dedication to the field of education, Dennis retired on June 17, 2017. He leaves a profound impact on the lives of countless students and colleagues.

Dennis is survived by his children: Shirlene Jeffers Cook, Michelle Jeffers Kemp, Denise Jeffers, and Adam Jeffers; his grandchildren: SaVon Cook, Carlyssa Cook, Houston Cook, and Logan Cook; and his siblings: Leila Walkin, Kenneth Jeffers, Micah Jeffers, Zeta Jeffers, Selrick Jeffers, Zenna Jeffers, Everard Jeffers, Alfred Jeffers, Noel Jeffers, Ena Jeffers, Eddie Jeffers, and Clem Jeffers.

He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will deeply miss him.
