Brenda Elizabeth Hunte
Brenda Elizabeth Hunte affectionately known as “POOKIE,” was born on July 14, 1950 and died peaceful on January 4, 2026. She was raised by her father Walter Nichols and her uncle Mortimer and aunt Constance in their family home on Dean Street in Brooklyn.
In her early years Brenda worked as a banking investigator for Barclays Bank for several years and she later moved on to the Department of Education where she later retired with a magnificent farewell from colleagues and staff. A well-deserving farewell for her commitment and dedication to her students, colleagues, and the school.
Brenda was a devoted wife, mother, stepmother, Godmother, sister, cousin, sister-in-law, and friend. She was a loving and compassionate person. Brenda had the ability to tackle any given task. Her personality shone through with her extraordinary gift of putting everyone at easy no matter who you were.
As we say goodbye to Brenda Elizabeth Hunte - “POOKIE POO,” we take comfort in the memories we shared with her. Our deepest sympathies go out to her husband Cecil, son Anthony, stepsons Curtis and Ron, sisters- in-law, friends, and family and many more.
She loved us dearly. What we have once enjoyed we can never lose.
Rest in Peace “POOKIE,” and may the flights of angels take you to your eternal rest.
